This device boasts ANT+ technology to facilitate the collection and automatic transfer of sensor data for monitoring information anywhere, at anytime. I discounted the Edge 500 since I believed that my iPhone could function just as well for tracking my course. Turns out the iPhone is only good for four hours till the battery dies running Strava. The Edge 500 has an 18-hour life and includes the HRM and Cadance. All of your ride data can easily upload to Strava or the Garmin dedicated tracking site Garmin Connect. I've found sites like, GPSies that have a wide variety of coarses that I can drag and drop into my Edge 500. I can then follow these coarse without worrying about getting lost or killing my iPhone battery in case I need it in an emergency. You can create your own custom coarse on the Garmin site and save it to your Edge then follow this as well. Great product all around. I'm Glad [...] recomended this to me!
