I looked at many different bikes and read a lot of reviews before I purchased my 7.6FX a couple of months ago. I was looking for a bike with a lot of versatility; one that I could use for long rides, fitness rides and general around town commuting. The 7.6FX has a good combination of comfort and responsiveness as well as durability. It has been everything I hoped for and more. I equipped it with a cycle computer and a good solid rear rack and bag to use for carrying general items. I am a long time runner and wanted a bike that could be used to supplement my running. This bike can fit that need also. If well maintained I am confident that it will last forever. The LBS staff were terrific to work with. I highly recommend them.

I have put about 800 miles on this bike so far and just love it. The two things I was disapointed in were the skinny tires that the bike came with were not the best off the road, especially if the ground was not hard and flat and the brakes could be better. I was at a local bike shop and they sold me a wider tire, the Marathon (30% wider) and it takes less air pressure, is wider and has more tread to channel water and grab. It is soooo much more comfortable riding now and handels so much better. I also do not notice any reduction in speed. Wish I had known I could put wider tires on day one! They took off the safety spring on the front brakes (backs don't have one) that Trek puts on to avoid liabiliuty in case you slam on only front brakes and tip. I had seen several reciews on line where people complained that while all was great the brakes could be better. They are now with a $7 fix! THIS BIKE TRULY ROCKS NOW! Cheers, Jody Koval

My old Trek 7200 was recently stolen. One door closes and another opens! This 7.6 FX Trek bike rocks!!! It's lighter than my old 7200 from 1999. I like the 20 speed with only two large sprokets to go back and forth on. On the same local paved trail I noticed that the same small bumps here and there were less noticable and I found myself traveling at about 15 to 20% faster with the same effort. I am not really looking for speed unless I'm trying to outrace a storm, but this factor really does the trick on steep hills that previously I could barely make and now I just do it! The seat does flex with you and on a long run that can be nice :) Handling is nimble and superb. The wieght is a bit lighter for when I have to lift it into my car's back seat (convertable) or over a tree trunk root... The brakes, while they do not skid like the 7200, they do the trick and I just lost a race with a storm last week and inspite of all the wet roads, the brakes did the job quite well! Looks wise... I have had several comments so far... it's cool looking! It also has the screws holes for all the typical ancillary accerrories including the matching silver back rack I got. Built in optional odometer is terrific and prompts you to engage it for a new run by just rolling the bike a couple of feet. I was told that handlebar mirrors were problematic in the past but this new one is steady as hell and works great. The peddals are throw away as I am told many people have a thing about which particular kinds thay want. I opted for a really cool and matching black and white pair of self greased peddals with little brass screws for traction and no straps securing me to the bike (don't like that). Doesn't come with a kick stand, I got one as this bike is too nice looking to lay in the dirt. Even found an attachment to mount my car's Garmin navigator. The cost is a bit on the high side but Trek had a sale and interest free financing for a year that helped take the sting out. However, if I amortize the cost over the 15 to 20 years plus I expect to own this bike then I feel it's an excellent value, especially when one adds in the fun factor! Also, Lou, the owner of the Fairfield Trek shop was very knowledgable, resourceful and helpful. Great experience! Jody Koval
