'13 Trek Mountain Track 200

Trek's Mountain Track 200 is a sturdy ride well equipped to please both parents and child alike. He'll love the cool looks, great graphics and knobby tires. You'll be glad it's made with durable steel, choice components and that it's professionally assembled. Plus, the 7-speed drivetrain makes it easy for your young mountain biker to climb higher and ride farther, while the linear-pull brakes provide excellent stopping power.

      Comments:

I bought two of these; one for my son who's 7 and the girls model for my daughter who's 9. We ride two local mountain bike parks regularly. Both kids have improved dramatically since getting their bikes. The brakes are perfect and confidence inspiring to them. I like only one deraileur and no suspension as it reduces maintenance and lets them learn how to handle a ridgid bike first before assuming a shock makes everything better. My son will be trying a few local races this year and that's mostly due to his new love of biking since getting the new Trek.

      Comments:

Another good bike from Trek. It seems very solid. I like that it has a rigid front fork (less complexity) and a rear derailer only (again, simpler). It's heavy for its size, but it seems like it will take a lot of abuse. I like internal-gear hubs instead of derailers, but you'd never find that at this price point. Overall, I'm pleased with the bike.
