I am a formerly avid/competitive rider who has been essentially "off the bike" for about 30 years. I am now 63 years old and starting over. I picked out this bike after trying several ATBs at the local shop. The more I ride it the better I like it. I ride 5 - 8 miles regularly and 20 miles occasionally. I will comment on the stock tires. My bike is 2 years old and came with 1.9 tires of hybrid type. My wife's Pure, 1 year old, came with 2.125 beach cruisers. The ride and response of the lighter, higher pressure tires make this a more versatile bike.

I am a 46 year old male that used to ride miles and miles a day on my 10 speed. When I bought a mountain bike I couldn't believe how much different it ws to ride and how much more resisitance there was. It wasn't long before I quit riding all together. Fast forward ten years and I am back at the bike shop looking for a comfortable bike to ride. After taking the Trek Pure out into the parking lot for a quick spin up and down the road I was instantly sold. I couldn't wait to ride it when I got home...this was what I remember bike riding to be like. It's so easy to ride and just glides along the pavement bike riding is fun again! For anybody that thinks these bikes aren't good exercise just ride farther or ride uphill! It has seven gears which seems to be just right with first being ample to haul my butt up any hills and seventh is great for the downhill sprint to the finish. I have not found anything about it that I dislike and I have had mine for four months. I bought mine at [...] their prices seem competetive and you get some free services for the first year.

I love the bike. It is great for leisure rides, running errands, and the push-out motion your legs make *(instead of push down)makes it easier. Its overall very classic in style and function.
