I started with a mountain bike and what a difference when I bought this bike in Dec. 2012 and now April 2013 I am riding up to 22 miles on this bike. It is a great all around bike. Don't think you can outrun a road bike. I love this bike and will keep it but I just went today and bought a road bike.I can ride 19.2 mph without standing on the pedals. Very good speed.

Comments:
I bought this bike as a companion to my Trek Pilot 5.2 carbon frame road bike which I absolutely love. Sometimes, though, I ride in/on areas/surfaces not really suitable for a road bike like my Pilot. I decided to buy the Verve 2 WSD because it is very lightweight, and came in a 19" frame which is difficult to find in a ladies' frame. I am 5'10" and like a large bike. My Pilot 5.2 is a 57 cm. frame and while great for long rides on the road, this bike jumps curbs when necessary and rides over grass and wooden bridges with ease. The front fork shocks along with the seat post suspension, makes for a very solid, comfortable ride on any surface.

I am absolutely thrilled with the new Verve 2 I bought in November 2012 from my LBS. I haven't ridden bikes much in many years, so currently I'm only able to ride short distances locally with my Verve 2. But it is so enjoyable to ride that I find myself taking it out often when the weather is nice, sometimes two or three times during the day.The construction, finish, and operation of all components of the Verve 2 are superb. Shifting is easy and precise, braking is excellent, handling is excellent even at the slowest speeds, and it is the easiest pedaling and best coasting bike I have ever had. There are user adjustments that allow the fine tuning of almost everything on the bike. As it sat on the bike shop floor, my Verve 2 was set up so well by the dealer that no adjustments were needed before buying it. I replaced the saddle that comes on the Verve 2 with a Bontrager SSR WSD saddle. It is much more comfortable for me, and the black color with silver lettering matches the Verve 2's graphite and black colors really well.If you're looking for a top quality hybrid, check out the Trek Verve 2, you might end up taking one home, I did.
