Carmichael Training Systems Progressive Power DVD Series
This is your chance to take part in the immensely-popular and highly-effective training class led by Chris Carmichael and a team of CTS Coaches twice a week for eight weeks. Research shows that, on average, athletes who complete this series of classes experience a 12% increase in their maximum sustainable power (Klika, et al., 2007), and now we're making the whole series available to athletes everywhere. The whole program begins with the CTS Field Test, an essential workout that allows athletes to accurately determine personal power and/or heart rate ranges they'll use in each subsequent workout. This workout is so important that it's included free with every order. The 15 one-hour workouts that follow form a comprehensive indoor training program based on CTS's proven coaching philosophy. Individual Discs:
CTS Field Test: Led by Chris Carmichael, the CTS Field Test is the starting point for the Progressive Power DVD Series. This approximately 50-minute workout provides athletes with all the information necessary to establish accurate and personal training intensities they'll use in all subsequent Progressive Power workouts. Disc includes instructions on calculating your personal power and heart rate training ranges.
Disc One: Following a workout designed to verify your power and heart rate training ranges, cadence and pedaling power are the main focus of the workouts on Disc One.
Disc Two: Aerobic development is the name of the game in the three workouts on Disc Two. With a mixture of moderate-intensity Tempo intervals and SteadyState intervals at just below your maximum sustainable intensity, the workouts on this disc directly target your aerobic engine.
Disc Three: More challenging intervals fill the three workouts on Disc Three, designed to take advantage of the gains you've made in aerobic performance and now include intervals that target and increase your sustainable power at lactate threshold.
Disc Four: The three workouts on this disc feature high-intensity efforts. Power Intervals are very effective for increasing your power at VO2 max, and increasing performance at the high-end of your aerobic capacity elevates performance at lactate threshold and more moderate intensities as well.
Disc Five: The workouts in Disc 5 pull together all the work you've done so far. The interval intensities return to SteadyState and Tempo levels but keep the total workload high with longer efforts, and the whole Progressive Power Series ends with another shot at the CTS Field Test so you can measure and clearly see how much progress you've made.
