The KryptoFlex 1004 Double Loop Cable is a 3/8-inch braided steel cable providing increased cut resistance. The double loops are for use with U-locks, disc locks and padlocks. The vinyl coating protects bikes and equipment from scratches. It includes the Hook-n-Loop strap for easy carrying. The KryptoFlex 1004 Looped Cable is 3/8-inch x 4-feet.
This lock will slow down a thief, but not stop one if they've got a large set of bolt cutters. I walked out of work today to see the cut cable looped over my bike. Luckily, the ends were still attached to the kryptonite U-lock connecting the frame to the bike rack. I had used the cable to lock up my helmet and my front wheel. Thankfully, the would-be thief did not take either.
On the other hand, I have come out to my bike and had a similar cable partially cut through by someone with a smaller set of cutters.
The bottom line is, this will slow someone down if your bike is in a very public area, but don't rely on it as your only means of security.

Saw the review about bikes on racks. I loop this cable through the factory racks on my roof and thread the cable through its own loop end, then through my front wheel (with the bike on a hatchback mounted bike carrier). Then, use a super heavy combo cable lock threaded though the bike frame and rear wheel, then through the open loop of this cable. Pretty much makes it a big hassle for a theif to steal the bike. And, when there is no bike on the carrier, I use the same method but run the super heavy duty cable lock through the fame of the bike carrier, making that a hassle to try and steal. After all, a quality bike carrier cost over [$].

I have had four bikes stolen in my life. Now I am making sure it does not happen again. This is a great product to use but make sure you use a U-lock in conjuction with this cable. When I am not using my bike I use two U-locks in addition to the cable. Make life as miserable for theives as possible, which I do.

I use it when I lock up my bike on my car rack. You know, after or before a ride. Wrap it around your frame and around your hitch type rack and it gives you some sense of security. For over night security, it may not be that good but if youre stupid enough to leave your bike on the rack overnight you may have it coming.
