Though it may be foreign now, Alcyon was once a dominant name in the professional cycling scene. It was the Trek or Specialized of its day, racking up a pile of wins in the Tour de France. In face, when the Tour switched from trade teams (as it is now) to national teams in the 1930s, it was because of the dominance of teams like Alcyon.

The company also made small motorcycles and a fairly ill-conceived car or two. Alcyon struggled into the 1950s, and in 1957 it closed for good.

The name lives on, though, thanks to Retro's Alcyon T-Shirt. Made of 100 percent preshrunk cotton, the shirt features sharp, screened graphics and a semi-form-fitting cut.
