Shimano's PD-R540 Pedals are fine pedals at a great value. Entry and exit is natural so you'll have no trouble starting and stopping. And, when you're clipped in you'll pedal with more power and comfort. The R540s are light, too, so they make a nice upgrade.
Great pedal for the money. Easy to use and I like the adjustable tension feature. The cleats included have a tiny bit of side to side pivot movement in them if I need to move the shoes a bit which is a nice feature for my liking too. Shoes stay solid in the pedals as well. Cleats with no side to side play are optional. There's are my first ever clipless pedals with Bontrager DLX road shoes so it's taking some time and practice to get used to them. I practiced clipping in and out of the pedals when they were installed on my bike before going out for a ride so I'd be used to them
