You've seen it scrawled on the pavement on mountain climbs in France. You've probably heard it yelled by rabid fans as riders squeeze through a wall of people en route to a summit.

What's it mean, though? Allez? It's French, and it's pronounced "ah-lay." And it means "come on!" As in "go!" As in, "get your (butt) up the mountain!"

We taught Velo Jones' son, now almost 5, to yell that when he was only 2. Of course, he now yells a lot of other stuff at us while we race (payback, we suppose), but this is where it all started.

The Allez jersey is made of 100 percent polyester microfiber for a soft, lightweight feel. It has a 3/4-length hidden zipper up front and three pockets in the rear.
