This is the first new bike I have bought in 35 years. I still have my Schwinn 10 speed, but there is no comparison. I love this bike. The saddle did take a while to get adjusted properly so that it is more comfortable for me. The brakes could be a little better at stopping in a shorter period of time. I love the way the bike rides and it is good at climbing hills. It is a pleasure to go for my daily rides. It took me a couple of days to get used to the 105 shifters, but now I love them. This is a great bike for the money.

Great ride overall. My first road bike! One of my best investments yet. Can't wait to race with it and compete in Triathlons. Bike looks like the Madone 3 series and is a hot look!

Great bike for the cash! This is a great bike ergonomically for all body sizes. Everytime I ride this bike, I like it better than my last ride. The 2.1 comes with good components and specs. I ranked this bike a 4 because I rode a Madone before I purchased this one. The Madone is a 5 hands down. It will be my next bike.

Got tired of pushing around my vintage Trek 930 Single Track. Down here in SE Florida the roads are flat and straight. Treated myself to the 2.1 for my 66th birthday. Wow is all I can say. This is like getting out of my heavy 4-wheel SUV and getting into my Porsche Boxster. I hope I last as long as I expect this bike to last. Bought my 930 in 1992 and it's had a real tough life in the hills and mountains of NJ. It's still going strong, but I needed a lighter, faster bike to cover some distance. I am impressed.

This is my third Trek. Purchased bike in August and have logged 700 miles so far. Great performing bike. Rode my first century and performance was flawless. A lot of the other riders I ride with have Madones and my 2.1 performance is as good or better than the Madones. I have had no issues with the seat. Best bike for the money!!!

I just purchased the 2.1 and it is a great bike. The 2.1 is efficient, handles well, has excellent geometry and is fast. I own a couple of older high end Trek road bikes(2006 Madone 5.9 and 2005 Time Trial) and I find this newly designed lower end Trek bike to be as efficient and it handles just as well if not better. The technology is simply fantastic. Thank you Trek.

        Comments:

I just wanted to give a heads up because I had seen comments about the bottom bracket making noise on this bike. I was hearing a clicking noise a few weeks after I purchased the bike that sounded like it was coming from the bottom bracket. It only occurred when I excelerated or was climbing. I took it back to the dealer 2 times and the noise continued. I changed out the pedals thinking they may have been the problem. The noise persisted. I took it to another shop they took apart the entire bottom bracket and put anti-seize compound on it. There was no noise at first but after 10 miles there it was again. I returned to the 2nd shop again and the owner said he thought he might know the issue. It turned out to be a single bolt on the chain wheel that was loosening up after a few miles each ride. I guess I could swap it out. Its not an expensive part. I just tighten it with an allen wrench before each ride and no noise. I thought this may help those who were going crazy with some bottom bracket noises. It sure helped me. My bike was new and was making a noise that the shop I bought the bike from could not figure out. Happy riding!

        Comments:

I purchased this bike about a month ago. I wanted the red/black which was a popular frame because it took a bit to get into the shop, however, the wait was worth it. This bike is gorgeous and with the 105 groupset it flies. The seat is firm and I rode it in jeans with my wife on her new Bodega and the next day my bum was sore. Definitely a good way to get into the cycling lifestyle.

          Comments:

This bike's geometry is brilliant. The design allows more of my energy to be transferred into the bike which results in speed. The new Shimano 105 5700 gruppo provides modern aesthetics with the functionality of the Ultegra 6600 gruppo from my previous Trek. The Bontrager Affinity saddle is firm but comfortable. The only components I intend on changing are the brake calipers. The TekTro calipers are no match to the 105 5700 calipers. Overall, an excellent bike for the price.
